Job description

Assistant Controller – Manufacturing


Venteon Finance is currently seeking an Assistant Controller for a leading manufacturing company located in the Sabina, OH area. This position will support the financial management and operational performance of the organization, with responsibility for financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial analysis.


The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience and the ability to partner closely with Operations and other functional teams to improve financial performance, cost visibility, and business decision-making.


Requirements of the Assistant Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing cost structures.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Plex or similar manufacturing ERP experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel, analytical, communication, and organizational skills; supervisory experience and exposure to FP&A strongly preferred.


Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller

  • Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, financial statement preparation, management reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while providing management with insight into operational and financial performance.
  • Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and material, labor, and overhead variance analysis while partnering with Operations to identify root causes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of accounting activities and staff while strengthening accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate external financial statement and J-SOX audits and support continuous improvement, ERP, automation, and financial reporting initiatives.
