Position: Process Attendant

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Shift: 12-hour rotating swing shift 

Pay: $19.50/hr

What youโ€™ll be contributing: 

Responsible for monitoring of all field activities and operating equipment in the plant. To assure all material flows are continuous and uninterrupted. Perform work area inspections and report any unsafe working conditions.

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • To assist production employees by directing, coaching, supporting and delegating as the situation requires.
  • May be required to work overtime, rotating shift schedule, unsociable hour shifts and respond to all callouts.
  • To monitor process equipment lube levels, operating conditions and report any perceived problems.
  • To report any housekeeping or material spill problems in the plant and take necessary actions to prevent and rectify any potential problems.
  • To monitor and maintain all material flows to ensure quality of products within specifications.
  • To ensure environmental compliance and report any visual emissions.
  • To work closely with the Control Room Operator to ensure all communications are accurate and complete.
  • To operate all process equipment at the highest production level within permitting limits.
  • To assist the Production Supervisor and Control Room Operator in all aspects including the starting and stopping of all process equipment.
  • The Process Attendantโ€™s daily shift tasks also include, but are not limited to:
    • Workplace inspections and housekeeping.
    • First Aid care, accident investigation and/or reporting, and other emergency issues as needed.
    • Completing all required departmental data logging and reports.
    • Checking Objects, Work, Procedures- Checking equipment for correct operation. Checking equipment lube levels. Checking all materials are available for production processes. Checking and maintaining continuous material flows. Checking products for satisfactory production quality.
    • Analyzing/ Integrating/ Interpreting- Analyzing numerical information. Diagnosing problems in a physical process/ machine. Critically examining information for accuracy/ quality. Summarizing numerical information. Summarizing verbal information. Identifying faults in equipment.
    • Informing/ Reporting- Providing spoken information about a problem/ issue. Reporting problems to supervisor. Giving instructions by radio or telephone. Contacting a manager or supervisor for authorization. Making a verbal report to a supervisor or manager. Briefing individuals on tasks or situations.
    • Collecting Information- Watching an operation or process to detect a problem. Noting danger or warning symbols. Noting unusual occurrences. Listening to verbal reports from subordinates. Listening to verbal instructions from superiors. Asking questions to establish information required.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor  

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • High school graduation or equivalent is preferred 
  • Minimum of 1-3 work related experience
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces. 
  • Mechanical, Welding and Machinist skills, preferred.
  • Ability to drive and operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcats, etc.
  • Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations).
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme heat and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to work at high elevations up to 50 feet

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
