Job Description

Teledyne Micropac is looking for a Test Engineer III. The role is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of automated test equipment (ATE), test software, and test methods used to characterize, qualify, and manufacture high-reliability electronic products. This position primarily supports production and engineering activities for power management and hybrid microelectronic products, including solid-state relays (SSRs), solid-state power controllers (SSPCs), heaters, multi-chip modules (hybrids), and related electronic assemblies. The Test Engineer III works closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to develop robust test solutions, investigate product performance issues, improve manufacturing yields, and support new product introductions. The ideal candidate possesses strong LabVIEW programming skills, experience with automated electronic test equipment, and the ability to resolve complex test-related issues in an on-site manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, maintain, validate, and document automated test software and hardware used for characterization, qualification, and production testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve test software, hardware, fixture, and instrumentation issues.
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel to investigate yield losses and product performance issues.
  • Analyze test data and support root cause investigations for product and process failures.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action activities as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, repeatability, throughput, and reliability.
  • Support transfer of new products from development into production.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel, technicians, engineers, and customers as required.
  • Generate, review, and maintain test documentation (test procedures, work instructions, and technical reports).
  • Assist with qualification and environmental test activities as needed.
  • Support internal and customer audits, reviews, and technical inquiries.
  • Participate in cost reduction, yield improvement, and process optimization/modernization initiatives.
  • Stay current with advancements in test technologies, instrumentation, software tools, and industry practices.
  • Execute engineering projects with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related technical discipline - required
  • 6+ years of experience in test engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering field - required
  • Experience developing and maintaining test software using NI LabVIEW - required
  • Experience with automated electronic test equipment and instrumentation - required
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware, test systems, and software applications - required
  • Experience supporting manufacturing test operations in a production environment - required
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline - advantage
  • Experience supporting power management, hybrid microelectronics, optoelectronic, aerospace, or defense products - advantage
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronic test methods - advantage
  • Familiarity with solid-state relays (SSRs), solid-state power controllers (SSPCs), heater assemblies, high-power electronics, or hybrid microcircuits - advantage.
  • Familiarity with TestStand, Python, C#, or other software development tools - advantage
  • Familiarity with MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-STD-883, IPC standards, or other high-reliability electronics requirements - advantage
  • Attention to detail and commitment to product quality and continuous improvement - advantage
  • Experience supporting qualification or environmental testing activities - advantage
