About The Position

Ameren IL Key Account Executive is responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of the business activities, financial health and strategic direction of selected Key Accounts (large industrial and commercial customers) in order to develop strong working relationships, implement integrated business objectives focusing on improved customer services and enhanced profitability for both parties. This role operates within Ameren Illinois' Economic Development organization, with a strong focus on Business Retention and Expansion (BRE). The Key Account Executive works to help retain existing customers while supporting their growth and expansion within Ameren Illinois' service territory. Leading coordination with local communities, economic development organizations, and state partners to support business growth across the region on behalf of Ameren.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a single point of contact between Ameren and Key Customers AND high profile customers. Provide education on rates and other tariff conditions, especially following rate order/tariff changes as appropriate.
  • Manage large Ameren construction and maintenance projects involving Key Customers (electric and natural gas) including preliminary engineering requests, review cost estimates, real estate costs, engineering specifications, construction of facilities, metering, gas and electrical load information, account setup, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior leadership, both internally and externally.
  • Proactively partner with local communities, regional economic development organizations, and state-level partners within the assigned territory to support business retention, expansion, and attraction efforts
  • Prepare, execute and coordinate implementation of all agreements and documents.
  • Coordinate Key Customer electric and gas metering installation design and construction.
  • Assist CAD with adjustments/estimation of data on Key Account related to stopped meters, billing errors, etc.
  • Act as point person in metering or billing disputes with Key Customers or other high Profile Customers.
  • Maintain Key Account customer contact information and log ongoing activities in CRM/Salesforce.
  • Promote Ameren Illinois Savings Programs, attendance to Ameren sponsored trade shows, training/certification, etc.
  • Assist Regulatory by participating on tariff review teams and providing input for new tariff language, etc.
  • Investigate electric and natural gas service interruptions and provide appropriate level of details to customer on root causes, preventive measures and future expectations. Assist in coordinating maintenance outages.
  • Customer notification and coordination of operations during system emergencies to attempt to minimize any adverse business impact.
  • Implement business-to-business recruitment strategies to attract new business location, encourage expansion/reinvestment of existing customers and serve as a channel for new revenue growth at Ameren Illinois.
  • Provide technical services, including demographic data, energy rate analysis and project management coordination to new and expanding businesses seeking business investment in the Ameren Illinois service territory.
  • Provide technical development services and public strategy support to assist Ameren Illinois business lines achieve business development goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Engineering, Business, Accounting or related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience (utility, rates, financial, etc.) required with three years of relevant relationship management, engineering, accounting, sales and/or customer service experience.
  • Required experience in managing projects across multiple departments.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with MS Office Suite of applications. Strong Excel skills, maneuverability within SharePoint Site and Ameren customer portals preferred. Understanding of Ameren rates and Illinois' regulatory environment preferred. Thorough knowledge of CSS, OAS, Ameren Portals, and Byers mapping preferred. Knowledge in the basic concepts of electricity and natural gas. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, solve problems, analytical skills, make decisions and be proactive. Must be a strong communicator that shows attention to details. Strong presentation, oral and written communications skills required.

Compensation Range:

$88,500.00 - $137,200.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
