Job description

Who We Are

At Voyage Foods, our mission is to make delicious, sustainable, and accessible foods that are better for people and the planet. All of our products work together to support and sustain a food system designed for everyone, now and into the future. We're a team of food scientists, CPG experts, and professionals with a passion for making good food available for generations to come.

What do peanut butter, chocolate, and coffee have in common? They're some of our favorite foods but are often inaccessible and unsustainable. That's why we created our Nut-Free Spreads, Cocoa-Free Chocolate, and Bean-Free Coffee. From food allergies to climate change and unjust labor practices, the foods we love are in serious need of an upgrade. Our future-proofed foods are always top-9 allergen-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, affordable, and most importantly, utterly delicious.

How We Work

We're a rapidly growing team of people who value diversity in all its forms. We love adding new perspectives and appreciate those who ask questions that help us challenge assumptions, explore new directions, and improve what we've already built. We are a group of like-minded difference makers. Curiosity drives our development. We have tenacity and a risk-taking mentality at every level of our organization to keep challenging normalcy. We believe it's our responsibility to create an environment in which every person can bring their full, authentic selves to work. We push each other to be our best and do our products proud.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

Production Floor Quality Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate QA technician activities across production shifts, ensuring consistent application of quality checks and food safety procedures.
  • Monitor and verify in-process quality controls, including weight checks, sensory evaluations, and critical control point (CCP) monitoring.
  • Perform pre-operational and operational sanitation inspections (SSOP verification) and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Review and approve production batch records, quality logs, and environmental monitoring data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure product holds, quarantine procedures, and disposition decisions are executed correctly and documented.

Food Safety Program Support

  • Support the execution and maintenance of the facility's HACCP plan, GMPs, and FSMA Preventive Controls program.
  • Assist with internal audits, mock recalls, and third-party certification audit preparation (e.g., SQF, BRC).
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints; document findings and support root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
  • Maintain allergen control procedures and verify compliance on the production floor.

Team Supervision & Training

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of QA technicians, fostering accountability and a strong food safety culture.
  • Conduct or coordinate food safety and quality training for QA staff and production personnel.
  • Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of quality oversight across production schedules.
  • Provide input to performance reviews and support QA technician development.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely quality records in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Generate shift quality reports and escalate issues to the QA Manager as appropriate.
  • Support document control processes, including SOPs and work instructions.

Required Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of QA/QC experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification.
  • SQF Practitioner
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOP, and FSMA Preventive Controls.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role overseeing QA personnel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in maintaining quality documentation and records.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting SQF, BRC, or other GFSI-recognized certification audits.
  • Familiarity with allergen-sensitive or novel food ingredient manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP or quality management software..
