Job description

ATHLETIC ASSISTANT COACH
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Coach will support the daily operations of the Cleary University Athletic Department. The Assistant Coach will aid the Head Coach in team management, training, recruitment, and academic oversight, while contributing to the success and integrity of Cleary's NAIA athletics.
JOB DUTIES:
  1. Assist in planning and conducting practices, workouts, and competitions.
  2. Support the Head Coach in implementing strategic game plans and performance improvement.
  3. Aid in the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes who align with Cleary’s academic and athletic standards.
  4. Promote and monitor the academic success of student-athletes, encouraging use of Cleary support resources (e.g., study tables, tutoring).
  5. Help coordinate team travel, logistics, and equipment management.
  6. Represent Cleary Athletics in a professional and sportsmanlike manner on and off the field.
  7. Engage in departmental fundraising, community outreach, and athletic promotional activities.
  8. Ensure compliance with NAIA, WHAC Conference, and Cleary University rules and policies.
  9. Serve as a positive mentor, modeling integrity, accountability, and leadership.
  10. Any other duties assigned by the Athletic Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Prior coaching experience at the collegiate, club, or high school level preferred.
  3. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel.
  5. CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
  6. Valid driver’s license and ability to be cleared to drive university vehicles.
