CNC Grinding Specialist

Are you an experienced CNC programmer who enjoys tackling complex machining challenges? Bullen Ultrasonics is seeking a skilled CNC Grinding Specialist to support the manufacturing of precision components used in the aerospace industry. In this role, you'll develop and optimize 3-axis and 5-axis CNC grinding programs for hard, brittle materials, including advanced technical ceramics, while helping drive innovation and continuous improvement within our machine shop.

What You'll Do
As a CNC Grinding Specialist, you will be responsible for developing machining programs, creating fixtures and tooling, and helping ensure the successful production of precision components that meet demanding customer and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Create and optimize 3-axis and 5-axis CNC grinding programs for hard, brittle materials.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD amp;T requirements, work instructions, and customer specifications to determine machining processes.
- Design and produce fixtures, tooling, jigs, and sub-components needed for manufacturing operations.
- Manufacture replacement parts for production equipment using manual and CNC machining equipment.
- Operate and support:
- CNC grinding and jig grinding equipment
- Manual lathes
- Manual and CNC vertical mills
- Work closely with Metrology to verify dimensional accuracy and product quality.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, repairs, and overall machine reliability.
- Maintain tooling systems and machining processes for consistent performance.
- Support and mentor less experienced machinists and machine shop personnel.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, safety, and productivity.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule to meet customer and production deadlines.
- Follow Bullen's Quality Management System and applicable operating procedures.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience programming CNC grinding equipment, preferably for hard and brittle materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD amp;T requirements.
- Strong machining, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong mathematical and technical aptitude.
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience machining technical ceramics.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience with jig grinding operations.
- Familiarity with:
- PowerMill
- Mastercam
- SolidWorks
- ESPRIT
- Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- CMM experience.
- 8-10 years of manufacturing or production environment experience.
