Chief Engineer

We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on team member to help us deliver outstanding hospitality and maintain a safe, comfortable, and high-quality environment for all who stay with us.

We are hiring a Chief Engineer to support daily hotel operations by completing repairs, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems and equipment are in excellent working order. This role makes a direct impact on the guest experience by keeping our property running smoothly and safely. This position requires hands-on work with a mechanical and systems skill set in all trades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
  • Complete routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, equipment, and appliances
  • Respond quickly and professionally to maintenance requests and guest service needs
  • Maintain property safety by inspecting and repairing locks, doors, alarms, lighting, and other safety systems
  • Assist with pool/spa operations (if applicable), including chemical testing and equipment maintenance
  • Support cleanliness and upkeep of building exteriors, grounds, and hotel equipment
  • Work closely with the General Manager and department leaders to coordinate repairs and prioritize tasks
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation of completed work
  • Monitor supply inventory and communicate needs for tools, parts, or equipment
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, safety protocols, and all local/state regulations

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance, building operations, or facilities experience preferred (hotel experience a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of issues
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills and a guest-focused mindset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical labor as needed
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends or evenings
  • the ability to take and respond to "after hours" calls as they come up
  • EPA or other maintenance certifications are a plus but not required
