Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Dual-Property Chief Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance operations for two adjacent JSK Hospitality hotels in Hammond, IN. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with strong hotel engineering experience, a command of building systems, and a commitment to guest-ready, brand-compliant facilities. This role directs preventative and corrective maintenance across both properties, manages the engineering team and vendors, protects assets, and keeps rooms and public spaces safe, comfortable, and operationally excellent.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all engineering and maintenance operations for both hotels, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, kitchen and laundry equipment, pools (as applicable), grounds support, and life-safety systems
  • Own and execute a documented preventative maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, and building systems that meets Marriott and Hilton brand standards and local code
  • Supervise, schedule, train, and develop maintenance technicians across both properties; set clear priorities and hold the team accountable for work-order response and quality
  • Manage engineering budgets, parts inventory, vendor contracts, and capital projects; control costs while protecting asset condition and guest satisfaction
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, fire and life-safety, ADA, water treatment, and all regulatory inspection and certification requirements
  • Serve as primary emergency response lead for facility issues at both hotels, including after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage as required
  • Partner with each General Manager on energy management, out-of-order room reduction, brand quality audits, and planned renovations or FF amp;E work
  • Track work orders, PM completion, and key engineering metrics; report results and risks clearly to property and ownership leadership
Qualifications
  • Previous hotel Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Engineering Manager experience required; dual-property or multi-building experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, and life-safety systems in a hospitality environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a maintenance team, manage vendors, and run a preventative maintenance program to brand and code standards.
  • Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing preferred; EPA Section 608 Universal certification strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with work-order or CMMS systems, basic computer applications, and maintenance documentation required for brand audits.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between the two Plaza Court properties throughout the shift; flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call response.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and guest-service skills with a professional, results-focused demeanor.
