What is an assistant chief building engineer?

Assistant Chief Building Engineers are professionals who help oversee the operation and maintenance of a building’s systems, such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety. They work under the Chief Building Engineer, supervising maintenance staff, scheduling repairs, and ensuring that all building equipment runs efficiently and safely. Their role is crucial in ensuring the comfort, safety, and operational continuity of commercial properties or large facilities. They may also help with budgeting, compliance with regulations, and coordinating with vendors for major repairs or upgrades.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant chief building engineer?

To thrive as an Assistant Chief Building Engineer, you need strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), relevant technical training or certifications (such as a Stationary Engineer License), and experience in facility operations. Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and compliance with safety regulations is typically required. Leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication are essential soft skills for supervising teams and coordinating maintenance tasks. These competencies ensure safe, efficient building operations and support smooth facility management.

What are some common challenges faced by an assistant chief building engineer and how can they be effectively managed?

Assistant Chief Building Engineers often encounter challenges such as managing multiple maintenance requests simultaneously, coordinating with various contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and building codes. Role Summary:
The Executive Assistant to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) is a high-impact, strategic business partner to executive leadership. Beyond core calendar and operational logistics, this role acts as an extension of the CGO's office meaning you are optimizing executive time, driving cross-functional alignment, and ensuring Go-to-Market (GTM) priorities move from strategy to execution.
Responsibilities
Executive Support & Operations
  • Manage a complex, high-volume calendar with a focus on strategic prioritization over mere attendance.
  • Filter internal and external requests as both gateway and gatekeeper, protecting executive focus while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate major executive and company cadences, including QBRs, leadership offsites, Revenue Kick-Offs (RKO), and executive sponsor meetings.
  • Track executive expenses, manage travel logistics, and oversee budget processing across growth initiatives.

GTM Enablement & Strategic Facilitation
  • Translate CGO directives into structured project plans, tracking deliverables across cross-functional GTM teams.
  • Facilitate executive leadership meetings by driving agenda preparation, capturing action items, and ensuring timely accountability from key stakeholders.
  • Maintain key project documentation (briefs, timelines, RACI matrices) to create a single source of truth for CGO-led initiatives.
  • Monitor project flow across revenue and marketing orgs, surfacing risks or resource blockers to the CGO early.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Manage external agency and vendor relationships, processing invoices and monitoring spend against allocated budgets.
  • Coordinate promotional assets and event collateral required for executive-led growth and partner initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 4+ years in a fast-paced, high-growth environment as an Executive Assistant, Sr. Project Coordinator, or Operations Lead.
  • GTM / Revenue Savvy: Strong familiarity with sales cycles, marketing funnels, GTM motions, and cross-functional revenue teams.
  • Influence without Authority: Demonstrated ability to build trust, keep senior leaders accountable, and keep multi-departmental initiatives moving forward.
  • Communication & Structure: Exceptional written communication and presentation-building skills (creating deck narratives for leadership meetings).
  • Tool Experience: Proficient with Outlook/Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Salesforce, ClickUp/Asana, Navan/Expensify, and Domo.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent practical experience.

How We Measure Success:
  • Strategic Alignment: Serve as a connector across sales, marketing, product, and revenue operations to ensure teams stay aligned on CGO north star goals.
  • Operational Efficiency: Design and maintain operating cadences, decision-making frameworks, executive agendas, and meeting follow-through.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Identify cross-functional bottlenecks early, keeping projects on track before they require direct CGO intervention.
