Job description

POSITION: JH Cheer Assistant Coach

JOB SUMMARY: An assistant cheerleading coach is responsible for leading a team of cheerleaders to perform at athletic events, competitions, and other public appearances. They are expected to create team spirit, motivate and inspire their team, and teach them various skills and techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement cheerleading routines and choreography with Head Coach.
  • Coordinate the team's practice schedule and attend all practices and games with Head Coach.
  • Prepare the team for competitions and act as a liaison with other coaches.
  • Teach cheerleading techniques, including tumbling, stunts, jumps, and dance with Head Coach.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting team spirit and unity.
  • Mentor and motivate athletes, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Work with school administration to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and regulations, including safety and liability issues.
  • Communicate with parents and coordinate team events and fundraising activities with Head Coach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience as a cheerleader or cheerleading coach.
  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques and routines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their goals.
  • Organizational and management skills, including the ability to schedule and plan practices and events.
  • Familiarity with safety guidelines and regulations for cheerleading activities.
  • Dedication to promoting a positive team spirit and inclusive environment for all team members.
