Assistant Cerec information

What is an Assistant CEREC?

An Assistant Cerec is a dental assistant who specializes in supporting dentists during procedures that use CEREC technology. CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that allows for the digital design and same-day creation of dental restorations like crowns, inlays, and veneers. The Assistant Cerec helps with tasks such as digital scanning of teeth, preparing and handling the CEREC machine, and ensuring the materials and workflow are efficient. They also assist with patient preparation and care during the procedure. Their role is crucial in making the process smooth and efficient for both the dentist and the patient.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Assistant CEREC?

To thrive as an Assistant CEREC, you need a solid understanding of dental assisting procedures, dental anatomy, and digital dentistry principles, typically supported by a dental assistant certification. Familiarity with CEREC CAD/CAM systems, dental imaging software, and basic maintenance of milling machines is important. Attention to detail, effective communication, and a collaborative attitude help ensure smooth workflow with dentists and patients. These skills are essential for providing high-quality, efficient restorative dental care and maintaining patient satisfaction.

What are the typical responsibilities of an Assistant CEREC?

As an Assistant Cerec in a dental practice, your primary responsibilities often include preparing and maintaining the CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) equipment, assisting the dentist with digital impressions, and designing restorations using CAD/CAM software. You may also be expected to educate patients about the CEREC process, manage digital files, and ensure smooth workflow between the clinical and lab components. Collaboration with dentists and other dental assistants is essential to provide efficient, high-quality patient care and same-day restorations.
