Job description

POSITION SUMMARY


 To provide for the coordination and control of activities within the underground mine operations. Ensure all programs, personnel actions and approaches support Vault Minerals / SilverLake goals for safety and sustainability. Act as a safety champion and exhibit safety leadership at all times. Work environment will include 80% underground and 20% surface.

Safety / Environment


·          Adherence to site and company standards and procedures in HSEC   while ensuring all duties are being performed in a manner that minimises risk to self and others..

·         Assure that the highest standards of Environmental and Safety performance are adhered to within your area of responsibility.

·         Maintain  housekeeping at all times, safe work, incident/accident reporting & active involvement in safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.

·          Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed HSEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards and regulations. 

·       Understand and familiarise oneself with site Emergency evacuation procedures

  •  Lead by example and actively participate to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
  • Initiate and provide input into company directives in collaboration with the Site Management team.

Technical & Role Accountabilities


·         Oversee the performance of the mine supervisors and their crews.

·          Provide and chair pre-shift briefings and end of shift de-briefings.Ensure that all personnel in his/her charge know and follow the company’s policies, procedures and standards for work and safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants

·          Plan and co-ordinate the required production activities and assist, advise and co-ordinate resources to minimize unplanned downtime to allow production teams to safely meet their budgeted KPIs in accordance with the mine. Liaise with department leaders regarding the progress through previous shift and issues going forward.

·         Ensure compliance around  daily logbooks and review data entry for accuracy and completeness

·          Identify areas for staff development and provide coaching and performance feedback

·         Conducting performance/career management discussions and ensure individual development plans are implemented Support continuous improvement initiatives



Teamwork


  • Communicate relevant information and data to other personnel through formalised leadership team meetings and work crew start of shift process flow.
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled operational process  meetings and provide accurate information on problems, events and process changes.
  • Identify specific areas that have the potential for improvement and cost savings.
  •  Participate in and utilise the change management process for identified problems and opportunities to make improvements
