Classification: Technician III (General Maintenance Worker)
Classification Rate: $42.81/hour 
Employment Type: Part-time
Reports to: Manager, Engineering Services

The Technician III is responsible for performing a wide range of general building maintenance and repair activities to support the safe and efficient operation of the arena. This position requires a strong background in plumbing and general facility maintenance, with the ability to perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks across multiple building systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Perform general building maintenance throughout the arena, including suites, concourses, concession areas, dining rooms, office spaces and exterior building components
  • Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance with faucets, toilets, drains, valves and other plumbing systems
  • Complete minor renovation repairs including drywall, painting, flooring and ceilings.
  • Repair and maintain door hardware, cabinetry and millwork
  • Install, maintain and remove building signage
  • Complete general office maintenance such as mounting shelving, artwork, whiteboards.
  • Maintain the shop’s Health & Safety procedures, material inventory and shop equipment
  • Assist Building Operators in preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Assist Conversions Department in general building set-up

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of commercial building maintenance experience with a strong emphasis on plumbing and general facility maintenance
  • Experience maintaining a commercial facility is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of stationary shop tools and hand tools
  • Experience reading blueprints and building specifications
  • Some plumbing and mechanical experience
  • Experience working with stains, lacquers and paints
  • Some experience working with CMMS Programs an asset, but not required
  • Ability to take initiative and work well under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Superior organization skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a customer service first mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work load
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Grade 12 education
