Apply today.The Superintendent is responsible for the coordination of all construction activities at a project site with respect to manpower, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, plans and specifications and policies and procedures. * The candidate should either be a Union member or willing to join the Union upon hire.Responsibilities: (Include, but not limited to)Assist project management in pre-construction planning, including developing and implementing project procedures, construction documents, detailed work schedules, job budget, etc.Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.Orders procurement of tools, equipment and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.Oversees mason foremen and maintains order, safety and cleanliness on the job site, including weekly toolbox talks.Attend and participate in weekly job safety and progress meetings. Occasionally the Superintendent is required to run these meetings.Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.Direct contact with owners, clients and architects.Implements changes on job site, such as trades changes, RFIs, changes to the construction documents, etc.Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce.Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.Maintains labor and equipment cost control.Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.Complete accurate documentation on daily work logs, time and material tickets, time cards, etc.Conducts post-construction review once job is finished.Requirements:A high school certificate or equivalent is required.Excellent leadership and communication skillsConstruction field experienceCan directly supervise 1 - 40 employees, depending on the size of the project, including Riley personnel and subcontractors. A new candidate should have completed the Supervisory Training Program (STP) modules sponsored by the AGC.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must possess good communication skills as the Superintendent is in constant contact with owners, architects, suppliers, subcontractors, Riley employees and the public via telephone, fax, e-mail, verbally and in writing.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
