Job description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Building Automation System (BAS) team in Sunrise, Florida. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in commercial HVAC systems and/or building automation who can independently support estimating efforts for complex projects.
As an Estimator, you will partner closely with the sales and project teams to develop accurate and competitive pricing for new construction and retrofit projects across commercial and industrial environments. You'll be responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications, evaluating system requirements, and preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals. This is a hands-on role that requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Training & Travel Requirements
This role will require travel to Jacksonville, FL for 6-8 weeks of initial training. Accommodation, mileage reimbursement, and meal per diem will be provided in accordance with company policy.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $90,000, negotiable based on your experience.
  • Support the sales team in developing estimates and bids for building automation systems in both new construction and renovation projects.
  • Assist in creating detailed bid packages, including pricing, scope of work, exclusions, and value engineering options.
  • Review blueprints and project specifications to help assess project needs and estimate costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and help find ways to improve the project's cost-efficiency.
  • Build relationships with vendors and assist in negotiating pricing to keep projects within budget.
  • Use the latest software tools to streamline the estimating process, ensuring accurate and timely estimates.
  • Attend meetings to communicate project details and customer needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest BAS technologies through industry resources, webinars, and training sessions.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial construction, HVAC, building automation systems (BAS), or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience in estimating, project coordination, engineering support, or field operations within a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop accurate, cost-effective estimates.
  • Ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, controls, or BAS platforms (controls, sensors, devices, networks, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams, project managers, clients, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with estimating or takeoff software is a plus.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work primarily in an office setting, including sitting for extended periods and using a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally walk active job sites, including climbing stairs and ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to wear required PPE during site visits.
