Breeder Service Technician

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Breeder Service Technician for Pilgrim’s in Marshville, NC.  This role is focused on poultry production, where the technician is responsible for tasks like moving birds, administering vaccinations and medication, monitoring hen productivity, and ensuring farms meet contract standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects farms to ensure compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards.
  • Provides guidance to farmers on development programs aimed at producing high-quality poultry products.
  • Conduct safety meetings to promote workplace health and safety.
  • Coordinates and manages the movement of pullets as needed.
  • Performs field vaccinations and administers medications when required.
  • Weighs, handles, and evaluates pullets, hens, and males.
  • Monitors and analyzes hen productivity to optimize performance.
  • Collects and transports eggs and tracks hatchability, as applicable.
  • Works under limited supervision with periods of relative autonomy and general review.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need:

  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent (associate degree in poultry science or related field preferred).
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Current driver’s license and good driving record
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing, capable of independent decision making, must have basic computer knowledge, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Work Environment - exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and unpleasant air conditions; exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
