Job description

1. Works outdoors in all weather conditions and also in confined spaces.
2.

Assembles, pressure vessels, ductwork and tanks.
3. Locates and marks reference points for columns or plates on foundation.


4. Loads and attaches rigging, signals crane operator to lift part to specified position.
5.

Assembles boiler frame tanks wall, roof, floor, plate and beams.
6. Grinds welds or seams to fit.


7. Installs boiler casings, grades, handrails, manhole and hand-hole covers to facilitate access to boilers or other vessels for repair.
8.

Aligns water tubes and connectors and expands ends to drums and headers.
9. Bolts casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and such fabricated parts as chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tube, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers and safety hatch to frame.


10. Tests assembled vessel.
11.

Installs manholes, hand-holes, valves, gauges and feed-water connection on drums to complete assembly of water tube boilers.
12. Cleans scale from boiler tubes.


13. Replaces and reassembles gratings, ladders, handrails, and other disassembled structures after repairs are complete.
14.

Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
15. May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.


16. Performs minor cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
17.

Typically requires a minimum of 48 months industrial construction experience.
