Stefanini Group is looking for Powerhouse Operator - Newport, Delaware
Purpose of the Job:
• To perform all daily utility related activities and operations for the site including; Steam raising boilers, Waste Water, Thermal Oxidizer, compressed air, Nitrogen and Water.
• Responsible for ensuring that the production objectives are met in a safe and cost-effective manner
Principal Responsibilities -
• Execution of daily area activities to ensure production objectives are met in a safe and timely manner. These activities include:
• Start up, monitor, trouble shoot, shut down all operations to produce sites utilities, control of these operations via PLC
• Support maintenance with breakdowns in all utility operations.
• Monitor critical alarms for Metasheen operation when no Metasheen operator present.
• Special procedures, for example:
o Prepare Permit to Work, equipment lock-outs, electrical isolations
o operating heavy equipment (fork truck),
• Review performance losses (lost time) and process anomalies with Supervisor.
• Assist in achieving site's financial targets and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
• Housekeeping and 5S sustainability.
• Other duties as directed by Supervision.
• Support and adhere to the principles of the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® initiatives by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors.
• Be knowledgeable of and follow all Environmental, Health and Safety practices including but not limited to: manage waste movements according to satellite and/or 90-day accumulation requirements, inspect air contaminant sources and institute corrective action for out-of-spec conditions, prevent releases into the sewer and/or stormwater systems by following BMPs (best management practices), activate emergency response procedures in case of spills or other emergencies.
Job Requirements
Work Environment -
• Must be able to work independently for most of their shift while still keeping good communication with supervision.
• Provide accurate shift relief and keep up to date log books.
• 12-hr rotating shifts w/2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights. Hours are 5:00-5:00
• In order to help support the operations, this position will require some Overtime.
Business Environment -
• Employee must be aware of current technology and normal operation of their equipment including but not limited to:
• Boilers, Emission monitoring system, Fuel system, Boiler feed water pumps, Water softeners, Brine system, Decarbonator system, Steam metering, Boiler water chemical treatment, Soft water collection, Air Compressors, Air Dryer, Condensate system, Booster pumps, Waste neutralization system, Thermal Oxidizer, Nitrogen Supply, Storm water system
• Be able to provide first hand troubleshooting to equipment.
• Monitor costs, deliveries of chemical/utilities, and daily rates looking for abnormalities and report them immediately to supervision.
• Boiler operations license preferred.
