Job description

Superior Blasting, Inc. is seeking blaster assistants. No experience needed! This is an entry level position that opens up training opportunities for equipment operator and blaster positions within the company.  We provide advancement opportunities for hard workers and high performing individuals. Job Responsibilities:

-        Assist blaster-in-charge in placing and detonating explosives used to loosen earth and rock

-        Carry explosive bags, cartridges, powder, stemming material and other supplies to blasting area and deposit in previously drilled holes as directed

-        Place earth, aggregate or drill cuttings (“stemming”) into holes after placement of charge

-        Connect explosive cord to blasting cap and lead wire to firing device

-        General job site clean-up

-        Fills in for driller helper position as needed

-        Ability to adjust to a variety of duties and willingness to perform any duties assigned

-        Adhere to OSHA and MSHA safety policies and follow strict company safety protocols in order to maintain a safe work environment

Requirements and Qualifications:

-        Must be 18 years of age or older

-        Ability to carry 50 pound bags, boxes, or buckets

-        Valid driver license with no DUIs, and no more than 3 moving violations and/or chargeable accidents

-        Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work around heavy equipment

-        Pass pre-employment drug test. We have a zero- tolerance drug policy

-        Pass the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) background screening; must be felony free

-        Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, communicate effectively, keep required work schedules, focus attention on detail, and follow work rules

-        Capable of working in remote, loud, or varying weather conditions

Bonus Qualifications, preferred not required:

-        Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL)

-        Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical certificate

-        OSHA 10 and Hazmat certificates
