Why Cancer Specialists of North Florida (CSNF)
CSNF is the largest physician owned private practice oncology group in Jacksonville. CSNF is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse for our busy Ascension's Clay Office offering a GENEROUS SIGN-ON BONUS. The Oncology Registered Nurse under general supervision provides care of patients with hematologic malignancies and oncologic diagnoses. This includes medical and radiation oncology. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Follows standard policies and procedures to carry out medical orders.
  • Assess patient and family learning needs, physical and mental abilities, and readiness to learn. Provides teaching and other instructional material. Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary.
  • Mixes and administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, hydration, hematopoietic growth factors and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Assists physician with exams and procedures. Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and communicates laboratory data, imaging, and other tests for determination of changes in patients' status. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
  • Performs assessment of patients in the areas of biophysical needs, psychosocial needs, performance status score, self-care needs, educational, spiritual and emotional needs.
  • Demonstrates competency in the performance of simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venipunctures, care of vascular devices, and dressing changes.
  • Demonstrates competency in telephone triage, including the ability to assess the problem and plan the appropriate patient intervention. Completes QCL's in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
  • Acts as a resource person to medical assistants and other staff.
  • Adheres to safety and quality control measures such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration, infection control, and sterilization criteria.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
  • Mentors and serves as a preceptor for less experienced staff as needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality

Education and Experience:
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, including at least one (1) year oncology nursing experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • RN Florida State license
  • Basic life support (BLS) certificate.
  • OCN preferred
  • ONS (or equivalent) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course or ONS Radiation certification required within 6 months of hire.
