Overview
We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Technician and welcome applications from BMET I, BMET II, and BMET III candidates.
The BMET is responsible for the service, maintenance, and performance of general, advanced, and specialty patient care equipment. In addition to providing expert technical support, this role leads projects, mentors team members, and supports department initiatives to ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, reliability, and operational excellence across UnityPoint Health facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Service: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, installations, troubleshooting, and calibration of general, advanced, and specialty biomedical equipment (including PCs, networks, and imaging devices). Lead projects, mentor BMET I & II staff, coordinate vendor activities, and maintain expertise through ongoing training. Participate in on-call rotations and travel between affiliate sites as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation in the CMMS system, maintain equipment inventory, and adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) and all state/federal regulations.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Communicate equipment status and service updates to clinical staff, provide education on proper use, and support safe, effective patient care delivery.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or other Technology/IT related program; military Biomedical Engineering Technician course graduate required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. CompTIA Network+, Security+ or other IT related certifications preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum five (5) year's documented Biomedical Engineering Technology experience AND currently meets all BMET III job function requirements required.

License(s)/Certification(s):
  • Valid driver's license (DRLC1IA, DRLC1IL, DRLC1WI) required.
  • AUTOINS required for driving a personal vehicle.
