Job Title: A/V Technical and Events Supervisor

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Technology

Pay Grade: Admin/Prof 3

Primary Purpose

Oversee technical support for all district events held in auditoriums and performance venues. Provide stage and production support across the district as needed and manage outside facility use of district performance spaces. Facilitate event rentals, supervise student technical workers, and manage audio/visual needs for major district events, including graduation, varsity football games, convocation, and other large‑scale productions.

Qualifications Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of auditorium operations and related technical equipment
  • Knowledge of professional‑level lighting, sound production, and counterweight fly systems
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in performing arts environments, including use of lifts and ladders
  • Ability to manage and supervise students and staff
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and data
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support event planning functions, including scheduling, logistics, coordination, and on‑site execution
Experience
  • Three to five years of experience working in a professional or high school performing arts venue
Major Responsibilities and Duties Productions
  • Maintain and manage the calendar of auditorium events and usage; provide recommendations regarding production capacity based on staffing and student support availability.
  • Attend community and district events as assigned and supervise technicians, performers, and patrons.
  • If unable to attend an event, ensure required documentation is completed in advance, designate a qualified supervisor, and retain responsibility for coordination of technical, logistical, and custodial support.
  • Support and coordinate all district‑related groups utilizing auditorium facilities.
Event Planning
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute district-wide events in alignment with district goals and protocols.
  • Manage event logistics, including venue setup, audiovisual needs, and accessibility accommodations.
  • Coordinate with campus administrators, district departments, vendors, and community partners to ensure timely and effective event execution.
  • Develop event timelines, checklists, and run-of-show documents.
  • Monitor event budgets, process purchase requisitions, and ensure compliance with district procurement and financial guidelines.
  • Oversee on‑site event operations and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Communicate event details clearly and professionally to participants and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate completed events and provide recommendations for improvement.
Facilities Management
  • Take reasonable precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Provide technical supervision and support to auditorium staff, student workers, district employees, contractors, and rental clients.
Technical Support
  • Oversee maintenance and physical plant operations in performance facilities and coordinate with the district maintenance department for repairs and capital needs.
  • Enter work orders into the district system for building and equipment repairs.
  • Support campus and district personnel in maintaining security and preservation of auditorium facilities and capital assets.
  • Supervise maintenance of audio, lighting, scene shop, mechanical, electrical, and computer systems to ensure proper working condition.
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance and periodic cleaning of technical systems.
  • Recommend and oversee capital improvements to performance facilities.
  • Provide guidance in the use, maintenance, and inspection of lighting and sound equipment across district venues.
Communication
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Collaborate with campus and district administrators to ensure successful operation of performance facilities.
Other
  • Assist in planning and administering the annual operating budget for performance facilities and technical equipment.
  • Prepare and publish Fine Arts communications highlighting staff accomplishments and event updates.
  • Provide technical leadership for major district events.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, UIL rules, and board policy related to technical productions.
