Job description

Overview
Alberta Academy of Recording seeking an experienced Audio Engineer / Music Producer to instruct novice students in our audio engineering / music production course. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the instruction of 2 - 4 students in our engineering certificate course. This role requires a strong understanding of audio engineering, music composition, and digital media tools including Pro Tools. The classes run Monday to Thursday, 2 - 6 pm from Sept.8 to Dec 23, 2026 with the possibility of additional engineering / music production work available. Starting immediately, salary 28 - 35 an hour depending on experience. Guaranteed 16 hours a week minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students using our curriculum and the Modern Recording Techniques textbook.
  • Explain in detail the techniques used by professional engineers & producers to attain world class recording and mixing results.
  • Work with students to further their understanding of Pro Tools and other popular DAWs.
  • Assist with practical recording projects as part of the curriculum.
  • Mark tests and adjudicate practical assignments, monitoring students progress.
  • Act as mentor and guide to assist novice students

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in music production or related roles within the music or entertainment industry
  • Proficiency in digital audio workstations (DAWs) Must know Pro Tools
  • Knowledge of sound engineering principles and mixing/mastering techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
  • A portfolio demonstrating previous work in music production is highly desirable
