ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a alternating shift Plant Operator at our Presque Isle, MI quarry. A Plant Operator operates and monitors crushing, screening, and heavy machinery to process raw materials like stone and gravel. They ensure equipment runs efficiently, perform routine maintenance, and follow safety protocols at all times.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Operate and monitor crushers, conveyors, and screening equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on plant machinery.
  • Load and unload materials using heavy equipment like loaders or excavators.
  • Monitor production levels and adjust equipment to optimize output.
  • Follow strict safety procedures and report hazards or equipment issues.
  • Keep accurate records of material usage, output, and downtime.
  • Assist with plant cleaning, shutdowns, and routine servicing.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: 1-2 years in a Quarry or Industrial environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience operating quarry or heavy plant equipment (e.g. crushers, screens, loaders).
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols in industrial or quarry environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude for performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick operational decisions.
  • Physical fitness to handle labor-intensive tasks and outdoor conditions.
  • Good communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating with the team.
  • Flexibility with shifts and willingness to work in a high-production setting.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
