Join us for Walk a Mile in Their Shoes 5K Run/1 Mile Walk on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 8:00am. The race is held as part of our awareness campaign during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our event is more than a race, it's a community coming together to make an impact in the lives of survivors while celebrating every step across the finish line.

Race Details

Location: Park Tavern & Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail

Registration Begins: 7:00am Race Start Time: 8:00am

Volunteer Opportunities:

Registration (12 volunteers)

  • Assist participants with check-in, onsite registration, “Ask Me” event assistance/greetings, race bibs, and t-shirts/swag bags distribution. *Volunteer shift 6:00am – 11:00am**

Event Setup (12 volunteers)

  • Assist with setting up various event areas and stations including placing chairs, tables, tents, and trash receptacles into proper position. *Volunteer shift 6:00am – 11:00am**

Event Breakdown (12 volunteers)

  • Responsible for removing event signage, decorations, furniture, and other supplies from the event space at the conclusion of the race. Includes loading items into storage containers and onto storage vehicles. *Volunteer shift 8:30am – 11:00am**

Food & Beverage Stations (10 volunteers)

  • Monitor and provide healthy snacks to race participants and manage rehydration stations for racers/walkers located along the race route. *Volunteer shift 6:00am – 11:00am**

Decorations (10 volunteers)

  • Help set event decorations (including balloons, signage, medals, etc.) into their designated positions to create a festive atmosphere for event goers. *Volunteer shift 6:00am – 11:00am**

Race Day Support (20 volunteers)

  • Provide encouragement to racers/walkers at Start/Finish and Cheer Stations along route. Includes creating race day signs with art supplies provided. *Volunteer shift 6:30am – 11:00am**
