Case Manager Assistant (Kiswahili, Swahili, and/or Kinyarwanda)
Description
Provide direct support to clients as directed, deemed or appropriate at the request and/or direction of supervisory staff. Direct support includes transportation, interpretation, and translation of documents and services relating to clients, Programs, and the Agency.
  • Provide interpretation and translation services, both within the Agency/Program and to outside the Agency partners, if applicable.
  • Provide preventive health orientation to all clients. (Including but not limited to women's health issues and being culturally sensitive.)
  • Case note all appropriate contacts and activities as directed.
  • Ensure all documentation is safeguarded and turned in as directed.
  • Provide transportation, as deemed necessary, from the airport (arrival), to DHHS, Social Security, the Secretary of State, employers, health appointments, and other supportive services, etc.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Case Managers and other Program staff to ensure client needs and requests are addressed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behavior as a representative of the Agency and Program.
  • Attend and actively participate in Agency and Program meetings, conferences, in-services, and other meetings deemed appropriate.

Requirements
Education: High School education.
Experience: Directly related experience is preferred.
Registration, licenses, certifications, or special training: Fluency in specified language required. Additional relevant languages such as Arabic, Farsi, Chaldean, Kurdish, Tigrinya, or Somali are desirable. A valid Michigan Driver's License, access to reliable transportation and maintain appropriate insurance. Prefer the ability to work beyond the parameters of posted Agency/Program hours of operation as necessary to complete Job Responsibilities.
Physical Demands: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Work involves talking, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Driving as needed throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal for extended periods.
  • Noise in the work environment is usually moderately quiet but can be very loud at times.
  • Work in an environment with various degrees of discomfort. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Emotionally able to work with information that may be traumatic in nature, as well as, work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma.
