Position Description
Tweet/Garot Mechanical has an ongoing need for individuals interested in a career in the mechanical trades as a Sheet Metal Pre-Apprentice, with the opportunity for an Apprenticeship.
Assist Sheet Metal Journeymen and Apprentices in performing duties as directed by supervisor, to include training in shop fabrication processes and job site installations within union contract.
Position Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in fabrication and installation of sheet metal products
• Work with journeymen and apprentices to construct fabrications from drawings
• Learn to use burn tables, press breaks, shears and rollers to grind
• Assemble and disassemble scaffold
• Assist in cutting, measuring and assembling sheet metal products
• Deliver material to job sites
• Assist in the loading, unloading, and organized storage of materials
• Maintain a LEAN working environment
• Grind and de-burr materials
• Other duties may be assigned in accordance with the local union bargaining agreement
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
• Conscientious and safety-minded attitude
• Valid driver's license with good driving record
