Job description

Morgan, Akins & Jackson, PLLC is seeking an experienced and organized Legal Administrative Assistant to join our growing litigation team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of litigation experience and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while providing exceptional support to attorneys and paralegals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence.

  • Electronically file pleadings and other legal documents in both state and federal courts.

  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.

  • Organize and maintain pleadings, discovery, and case files.

  • Draft, revise, and finalize discovery requests and responses.

  • Coordinate with expert witnesses regarding scheduling, document production, and case materials.

  • Communicate with insurance adjusters, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.

  • Manage attorney calendars and monitor litigation deadlines.

  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness files, and trial notebooks.

  • Ensure compliance with court rules, filing deadlines, and local procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of legal secretary experience in a litigation practice, preferably insurance defense.

  • Proficiency with electronic filing (e-filing) in state and federal courts.

  • Strong knowledge of court rules, litigation procedures, and filing protocols.

  • Experience scheduling depositions and coordinating with court reporters, expert witnesses, and insurance adjusters.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal document management and timekeeping software is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and support staff.
