HEICO is currently recruiting a Materials Engineer for its Seal Dynamics Business Unit, located in Tampa, FL.
PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform an in-depth documentation review of materials received and process certifications from suppliers for first article and production parts.
  • Develop reverse engineering materials test plans to be sent to outside labs.
  • Provide support in preparation of documentation required to send first article and production parts to outside Materials Analysis labs.
  • Interface with outside labs, Review test reports for accuracy and complete test plans.
  • Perform in-house materials testing with XRF equipment, FTIR, Rockwell hardness, Shore hardness and passivation test (Training will be provided).
  • Develop and maintain materials and process specifications in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., ASTM, AMS, MIL)
  • Other Duties assigned by Materials Engineering

EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials / Metallurgical engineering or a related field with at least two years of related Materials Engineering experience.
  • Experience in working with aerospace, automotive or medical grade materials is a plus.
  • Prior experience involving understanding of Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), ASTM, AS, MIL, NAS specifications is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of different types of metallic and non-metallic aerospace materials including polymers and composites, metals finishing processes, and materials specifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in materials characterization and hardness measurement techniques
  • A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic, high attention to detail required to review documentation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
