Job description

Acuity is seeking a Custodian to maintain corporate buildings, equipment, and furniture while helping oversee custodial service contractors. This role is responsible for completing set-ups for corporate, employee, and community events held on company property and ensuring facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained. The position also requires flexibility, as some duties and event support activities must be completed outside of regular business hours.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Cleans and maintains kitchen exhaust filters and hoods.
  • Cleans and restocks restrooms throughout the day.
  • Cleans lower-level offices and storage areas.
  • Cleans window blinds and light fixtures. This is potentially off hour overtime shift work.
  • Touchup cleans Galleria, stair treads, and dining area floors, as needed.
  • Ensures the contract cleaning staff and other custodial contractors provide timely, thorough services. This work may occur off hours.
  • Organizes and maintains storage and dock areas.
  • Contributes information on departmental needs for the preparation of the annual Facilities budget. Helps source, evaluate, and recommend purchases of maintenance supplies, equipment, and furniture. Orders, maintains inventory, and disperses custodial and restroom supplies.
  • Maintains system and procedure documentation, audit records and other required documentation related to job duties. Prepares a weekly report, which documents accomplishments, work in-progress, and tasks to be completed.
  • Helps communicate and enforce building use, safety, and security and evacuation policies.
  • Assists with moving / changing furniture and personnel moves.
  • Helps to complete space set ups for various company and community events. Provides off hours support of events. Assists with quarterly and semi-annual gift distributions.
  • Completes artwork and banner installations.
  • Backs up third shift custodians, working a hybrid shift 1:00-9:00 p.m. in the event of vacation or illness.
  • Assist Acuity First Aid Blue Team emergency response team.
  • Helps communicate and enforce building use, safety, and security and evacuation policies.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
High School diploma.
EXPERIENCE:
Custodial, building maintenance and event set up experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, maintenance personnel, and service contractors.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Near perfect attendance and schedule flexibility to meet the ongoing demands of a dynamic environment/facility.
  • Ability to lift/move objects weighing 75 pounds.
  • Valid driver license and ability to safely drive/maneuver a 30+ foot box truck.
  • Operate scissors lifts, forklift, and pallet truck.
