Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This position serves as a key contributor within the accounting team, providing advanced financial analysis, mentorship to junior staff, and support for strategic financial initiatives across multiple entities.

Essential Responsibilities, Authorities and Expectations

  • Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Perform complex general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Prepare and review financial statements for assigned entities.
  • Analyze financial results and provide management with meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare and review monthly profit and loss analyses.
  • Support annual budgeting and business planning processes.
  • Monitor and maintain strong internal controls and compliance procedures.
  • Review and approve sales and use tax returns.
  • Reconcile and balance daily cash activity across multiple bank accounts.
  • Prepare daily cash reporting and cash flow analysis.
  • Review bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with external audits and annual financial reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Support ERP system enhancements and accounting process improvements.
  • Serve as a resource to accounting staff and assist with training and development.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and complex transaction issues.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly margin reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
