Job Description

Our client is looking for a senior manager to build and run a team responsible for Platform software development for Linux based Wi-Fi networking products. You will work with Product Line Management, Hardware Engineering, and ODMs to take best advantage of continually improving processors and Wi-Fi radios available from major chip vendors.

You will hire and train a team of software developers in Sunnyvale, CA and Portland, OR. Acting as a hands-on software development manager, you will split your time leading a team, participating in building new devices, writing C/C++ code, and debugging hard system problems. You will be part of a cross-functional team that maintains close relationships with external chip vendors, and you will help determine our client's future product roadmap. Working with Hardware and Firmware engineering teams, you will build a stream of high-performance Wi-Fi access points, Wi-Fi enabled branch routers, and switches using the latest available, ever improving technology. You will also innovate ways to make embedded Linux networking devices both very fast and extremely reliable.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

10+ years experience in network software product development

5+ years experience as a Platform or Operating System Development engineering manager or lead engineer

Highly proficient in Linux kernel and driver development with the ability to efficient bring Linux up on new hardware

Deep knowledge of Operating System concepts and principles

C/C++ for real-time, embedded systems development skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Information

Proven success in innovating fast and highly reliable Linux devices

Program or project management experience

Able to project expected performance of potential new hardware

Excellent hard platform problem debugging skills

Understanding of 801.11 Wi-Fi protocols

Knowledge of BRCM and QCA architectures and chipsets

Background using Agile, Scrum, Test Driven Development, and Continuous Integration
