Position Title: Project Manager - Power Generation Project
Location: Chester, VA 23836
Pay Rate: $80-$90/hour on W2
Duration: 4 Months (Possible Extension)
Job id: #173654
Schedule: 40 hours/week with occasional overtime based on project needs
Mobilization/Demobilization: $500 one-time payment at the beginning and end of the assignment (subject to project policy).
Per Diem: Standard Rate of VA, 7 days/week if qualified

Position Overview
  • We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a high-visibility power generation project.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing capital projects, contractors, budgets, schedules, and safety-focused operations within power generation environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead execution of capital projects from development through commissioning
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and financial forecasts
  • Coordinate multiple contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Support engineering, procurement, construction, and startup activities
  • Manage contracts, commercial activities, and project documentation
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance throughout project execution
  • Utilize project management processes to track milestones and deliverables
  • Resolve technical issues and implement project improvements

Required Experience
  • 7+ years of industry experience in construction, engineering, or project management
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated project management experience
  • Strong power generation experience required
  • Experience with turbines, generators, pumps, motors, controls, electrical/instrumentation systems, and balance-of-plant equipment
  • Experience managing contractors and multiple project priorities
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasting
  • Knowledge of construction and operational field practices
  • Experience with safety practices, including OSHA requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with generator outage projects
  • Fossil/coal power plant experience
  • Engineering, Business, or Construction Management degree
  • Experience with commissioning and transition to operations
