What does an assets protection manager do?

An Assets Protection Manager is responsible for safeguarding a company's physical and digital assets, including merchandise, property, and sensitive information. They develop and implement security policies, investigate incidents of theft or loss, and coordinate with law enforcement when necessary. Additionally, they train staff on security procedures and work to minimize risks such as fraud or workplace accidents. Their goal is to reduce losses and ensure a safe environment for employees and customers.

To thrive as an Assets Protection Manager, you need expertise in loss prevention, risk assessment, inventory control, and a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with security systems, surveillance technology, and incident reporting tools is typically required, along with certifications like LPQ or LPC. These skills and qualities help ensure the safety of assets, minimize financial losses, and maintain a secure environment for employees and customers.

They frequently work with store management, human resources, operations, and inventory teams to develop loss prevention strategies, train staff, and investigate incidents. Regular communication with these departments helps identify vulnerabilities, address compliance issues, and implement preventative measures. This collaborative approach not only minimizes loss but also fosters a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.
