Position Summary

The Safety and Asset Protection Manager support the entire building and its operation within the ULAC 1.8 million square foot distribution center (DC) for our $1 billion apparel company.

The Safety and Asset Protection Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of workplace safety, emergency response, security operations, asset protection, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance within a high-volume distribution center. This position develops and executes proactive strategies to protect employees, company assets, inventory, facilities, and equipment while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and ethical conduct.

The Manager serves as the facility's lead investigator for workplace incidents, safety violations, theft, fraud, policy violations, workplace misconduct, and security breaches. This role partners closely with Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and external law enforcement agencies to identify risks, conduct investigations, implement corrective actions, and reduce operational losses.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong safety background combined with hands-on experience in emergency medical response, workplace investigations, loss prevention, and warehouse security operations.

Functional Responsibilities

Safety and Leadership Compliance:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of facility safety programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, Cal/OSHA, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and develop strategies to reduce workplace injuries and incidents.


Emergency Response & Incident Management:

  • Serve as the facility's lead emergency response coordinator.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response procedures.
  • Coordinate responses to workplace injuries, medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters, and other critical incidents.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment, supplies, and response teams.
  • Partners with local emergency services and regulatory agencies as needed.


Investigation & Loss Prevention:

  • Lead investigations involving theft, workplace misconduct, policy violations, security breaches, workplace violence, and other incidents impacting the business.
  • Conduct interviews, review surveillance footage, analyze evidence, and prepare investigative findings and recommendations.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Operations, Legal, and external agencies to ensure appropriate resolution of investigations.
  • Identify trends and vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions to mitigate future risk.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout all investigative processes.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, develop, and mentor safety, security, and asset prevention personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure team members receive ongoing training and development to support business and compliance objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Facilities, and external partners to achieve organizational goals.


Continuing Education

  • Leads to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety practices, minimize loss, and refine security processes, leveraging Lean or Six Sigma methodologies where applicable.
  • Monitors industry trends and evolving regulations, integrating new insights into the organization’s safety and security practices.
  • Facilitates ongoing training for the safety and asset protection team, focusing on skill development and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in relevant certifications and seminars to stay updated on advancements in safety management and security protocol.


Education/Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in Safety, Security, Loss Prevention, Asset Protection, or Risk Management within a distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, incident response, and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations, workplace safety programs, and risk management practices.
  • Experience managing security systems, surveillance technologies, and access control programs.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, Occupational Health, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • EMT, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Law Enforcement, Military, or Asset Protection background.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience with additional training or coursework in data analytics, lean management, process optimization, or project management.
