Position Overview
Solmax is the only geosynthetics manufacturer with the ability to provide project, application and situational specific solutions across entire Mining, Renewables and Oil & Gas projects and/or facility stages for construction, operation, closure and remediation. The Market Development Manager (MDM) is responsible for driving technical promotion, building high-level relationships, and partnering with the Global Market Director to negotiate contracts for Solmax's Value-Added Products (VAPs) within targeted vertical markets. Reporting to the Global Market Director, this role ensures consistent execution of Solmax's technical sales strategy in alignment with commercial objectives and long-term business growth. The Engineering MDM drives and influences owner, developer, and project specifications by engaging key stakeholders and advancing engineered solutions that deliver differentiated value to customers. In addition, the MDM serves as a bridge between Commercial Capital Projects and Product & Technical Services to ensure strategic alignment of goals and coordinated execution.
The position may be based in either Canada, United States or Mexico
Core Responsibilities
Identify and develop new revenue opportunities by leveraging technical products, platforms, and capabilities, while building targeted technical and commercial strategies with regional and global teams to convert market insights into measurable growth.
Translate complex technology into clear business value for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders- - architecture, APIs, integrations, limitations, and vertical market roadmap.
Design high-level solution architectures tailored to customer needs.
Influence and Drive strategic partnerships that expand market reach or accelerate product adoption, including with customers, EPCM's, designers, regulatory bodies, industry groups and associations, main and specialist contractors, etc.
Influence customer and project-level product selection by using competitive intelligence, customer needs, technical performance data, and application-specific value propositions to position Solmax solutions effectively.
Stay current on industry market and trends to identify new opportunities (attend conferences, exhibitions and trade shows, present technical papers at industry events)
Develop technical/commercial strategies together with regional and global team and use your existing network to achieve these goals

Influence the Value-Added Products roadmap by translating market demand, partner feedback, competitive intelligence, and field insights into prioritized recommendations for product development and technical innovation.
Develop technical content for marketing (white papers, case studies, solution briefs).
Train external teams on new technologies, features, and partner solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
• 5 years of experience in engineering, engineered product sales, technical business development, or infrastructure-related markets.
• Strong understanding of specification-driven sales, VAP promotion, and project-based opportunity development.
• Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed teams and drive results in matrixed environments.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills with a strong focus on client satisfaction
• Agile mindset: strong sense of adaptability and capacity to adjust behaviors to environment requirements.
• Strong demonstrated capacities for collaboration and building networking (internal and external).
• Ability to travel up to 50% within the AMS (Canada, USA and Latin America) region.
