Job Summary

Responsible for tasks that ensure TFS' critical data is as perfect in real time as it possibly can be. This involves coordinating with field teams and other personnel across Energy Delivery, gathering data, and entering data, as well as employing mature technical skills and experience to analyze TFS asset data for accuracy and completeness. This position is part of a team that ensures proper stewardship of TFS' critical data.

Job Description

What you'll do:

With instruction and limited supervision, the Associate level in this job family may be requested to perform any of the following:

  • Perform project print review at the beginning of a capital project to examine all relevant prints (one-lines, schematics, bills of material, equipment manufacturer drawings, etc.) in order to accurately identify and gather information about Transmission assets intended for commissioning on the project.
  • With minimal supervision, review drawings with field changes at the end of a capital project, to understand any changes that were made, and to ensure that they are correctly documented in our asset management database, IPS.
  • Coordinate elements of print management as requested, such as by monitoring our print platform (DSTrack) and following up on overdue records that have not been submitted.
  • With limited supervision, create the location hierarchy, add new capital assets, and populate asset attributes into IPS, based on information found in technical drawings and project scopes.
  • Manage asset entry lifecycle using Data Tracker database.
  • With direct oversight, read and interpret Spider Diagrams and complete element Bus/Branch reviews.
  • Review the assignment of Commissioning Actions in IPS to the newly created assets and make corrections/additions/deletions as needed.
  • With minimal supervision, review IPS Audit Trail of asset attributes for accuracy, and resolve errors as necessary.
  • Provide a specialized level of process support including response to questions from the field, problem diagnosis and research, troubleshooting, tracking and resolution.
  • With limited oversight, coordinate the configuration and release of the substation Capital Commissioning Checklist for specific jobs.
  • Assist in the development of process improvements and documentation regarding the Capital Commissioning Checklist creation, and initial IPS data entry.
  • Perform asset-level management of IPS data by updating asset attributes for new capital assets, processing testing documentation, updating asset statuses after in-servicing, and other associated items as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance of Transmission Field Services data by routine checks of accuracy of asset attribute data, correction of discrepancies, assistance with CICO requests (AEP's proprietary Check-in Check-out app), and updating GPS and address information in IPS.
  • With limited supervision, coordinate reporting and monitoring activities directly with field teams, such as by utilizing TFS' metric platform, PowerBI, to report on overdue settings, overdue commissioning actions, and others.

Education:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/ Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience
  • Or a high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related utility industry work experience.

In addition:

  • Print reading technical expertise and understanding of electrical principles.
  • Database knowledge or ability to learn.
  • Preferred Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/ Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields and 2 years of related utility industry work experience
  • Physical demand level is Sedentary.
  • Travel may be required.
