Purpose of the Job

The Dyslexia Evaluator and Administrative Coordinator supports the evaluation and administrative functions of the Dyslexia Resource Center (DRC). This position is responsible for administering components of dyslexia evaluations, coordinating the evaluation process for students and families, maintaining required documentation, and supporting reimbursement processes in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) requirements.


The Dyslexia Evaluator and Administrative Coordinator works closely with the Dyslexia Evaluations Manager and other dyslexia evaluators to ensure evaluations are administered accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established testing protocols and professional standards. The position also serves as a key point of contact for families, school personnel, and referral partners throughout the evaluation process.


This position requires current Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) credentials and the educational qualifications required for CALT certification, including a master's degree or qualification under applicable grandfathering provisions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dyslexia Testing & Evaluation Support
  • Administer standardized and diagnostic assessments used as part of comprehensive dyslexia evaluations, including assessments of phonological processing, decoding, word recognition, reading fluency, spelling, and other literacy-related skills, as appropriate and within the individual's professional qualifications.
  • Follow standardized administration and scoring procedures to support the validity, reliability, and accuracy of assessment results.
  • Accurately score assessments and organize testing data, protocols, and supporting documentation for inclusion in the evaluation process.
  • Prepare testing environments, assessment materials, and student documentation prior to scheduled evaluations.
  • Establish a professional, supportive, and appropriate testing environment for students while maintaining standardized testing procedures.
  • Document relevant behavioral and testing observations for consideration during the evaluation process.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of assessment materials, protocols, student records, and evaluation results.
  • Collaborate with the Dyslexia Evaluations Manager and other dyslexia evaluators regarding student testing needs, assessment selection, additional testing needs, and evaluation timelines.
  • Participate in professional development related to dyslexia assessment, structured literacy, testing protocols, and applicable state requirements.
  • Perform assessment, scoring, evaluation, and related activities consistent with professional credentials, test publisher requirements, organizational policies, and applicable state requirements.
Evaluation Coordination
  • Coordinate dyslexia evaluations with families, schools, evaluators, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage evaluation schedules and assist with maximizing evaluator availability and testing capacity.
  • Monitor each student's evaluation status from referral and intake through testing and completion of the evaluation process.
  • Confirm appointments and provide families with evaluation instructions, required documentation, and reminders.
  • Coordinate cancellations and rescheduling while minimizing disruptions to evaluation timelines.
  • Monitor evaluation timelines and follow up on outstanding documentation or action items.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Dyslexia Evaluations Manager and other evaluators regarding scheduling, testing needs, student documentation, and evaluation status.
Referral & Intake Management
  • Receive and process referrals for dyslexia evaluations.
  • Review referral and intake documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Request additional student records or supporting documentation when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate referral logs and evaluation tracking systems.
  • Assist families and school personnel with questions regarding the referral and evaluation process.
  • Ensure required records and supporting information are available prior to scheduled evaluations.
Administrative Operations
  • Maintain confidential student files in accordance with FERPA and organizational policies.
  • Prepare evaluation packets, correspondence, and required documentation.
  • Distribute completed evaluation reports to authorized recipients.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data within electronic databases and tracking systems.
  • Maintain organized records for evaluations, referrals, reimbursements, and required documentation.

  • Assist with the preparation, submission, and tracking of reimbursement requests in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) requirements and established organizational procedures.

  • Monitor reimbursement requirements, documentation needs, and applicable submission deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records to support reimbursement reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with required reporting related to dyslexia evaluation services and reimbursements.
  • Identify missing or incomplete reimbursement documentation and coordinate with appropriate parties to obtain necessary information.
  • Maintain familiarity with current LDOE reimbursement procedures and communicate relevant changes or requirements to the Dyslexia Evaluations Manager.
Communication & Customer Service
  • Serve as the primary administrative contact for families, school districts, and referral partners.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls, emails, and inquiries.
  • Provide families with information regarding evaluation procedures, timelines, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate communication between evaluators, families, school personnel, and DRC leadership.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Operational Support
  • Assist the Director with daily administrative operations of the Dyslexia Resource Center.
  • Prepare reports related to evaluation volume, scheduling, reimbursements, and operational metrics.
  • Support implementation of new administrative processes and workflow improvements.
  • Assist with meetings, trainings, outreach events, and special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the Dyslexia Resource Center.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification is required.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university, or qualification under applicable CALT grandfathering provisions for individuals credentialed prior to current master's degree requirements.
  • Professional experience in an educational, special education, dyslexia intervention, student support, or closely related setting.
  • Experience working with students with dyslexia and/or other language-based learning differences.
  • Ability to administer and score standardized assessments accurately and consistently in accordance with established testing protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student, family, and evaluation information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and the ability to learn student information, scheduling, assessment, and reimbursement systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with evaluators, administrators, families, and school personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience administering standardized literacy, reading, or dyslexia-related assessments.
  • Previous experience participating in or coordinating comprehensive dyslexia evaluations.
