What we need
The Assembly Technician is responsible for performing vehicle integration, calibration, and quality inspections, while driving ongoing Factory Service and depot repair operations. Positioned within the Autonomous Forklifts team, this role bridges manufacturing, quality assurance, and service execution to ensure all build, repair, and refurbishment activities meet strict engineering standards.
What we do
The team is responsible for delivering solutions for the storage and retrieval use cases performed in a fully autonomous warehouse operating 100s of mobile robots at customer sites. The role requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate in a highly cross-functional environments along with strong technical problem-solving skills and passion to tackle real world challenges in robotics.
What you'll do
  • Executes physical vehicle integration, sub-assembly builds, firmware loading, and system calibration for autonomous mobile robots.

  • Inspects incoming supplier parts, internally built assemblies, and completed robots against engineering drawings, schematics, and quality criteria.

  • Coordinates Factory Service, overhaul, and refurbishment activities on fielded assets returning from customer sites.

  • Drives diagnostic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on complex electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and wiring discrepancies.

  • Documents non-conformance reports (NCRs), inspection gates, and service histories to ensure complete digital data traceability.

  • Other duties assigned, including shopfloor 5S maintenance, assembly tooling support, and peer training.

What you'll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required; prefer an associate's degree in Mechatronics, Quality Technology, Automotive, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years' of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, quality inspection, heavy equipment maintenance, or robotics environments.

  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings/schematics and using precision measuring instruments (calipers, inclinometers, multimeters) and wiring repair tools.

  • Experience with command-line tools, diagnostic software suites, and digital quality logging/ERP systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting ability, high attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and adaptability across shifting operational needs.

Our Environment
  • Up to approximately 0-10% travel may be required in support of customer site visits or depot field audits.

  • Position is 100% onsite at the Austin, TX facility.

  • Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

  • Ability to perform job duties requires standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, working in cramped positions, and bending around heavy machinery.

  • Available to work assigned shifts, overtime, or weekends as dictated by production and service schedules.
