Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:
Openwork is seeking a skilled Assembly and Installation Technician on behalf of MSK Covertech, Inc., a leading global supplier of end-of-line packaging machinery.

This role involves assembling, installing, and troubleshooting cutting-edge packaging automation systems—including robotics, servos, and vision systems—both at the 30,000 sq. ft. Acworth, GA facility and at customer sites nationwide (20% to 70% travel).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assembly & Installation: Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to assemble, rig, and install packaging machinery, using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and lulls.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Setup: Mount moving parts (gears, shafts, motors, bearings), route wiring in cable trays/cabinets, perform continuity tests, and set up pneumatic/hydraulic lines.
  • Fabrication & Fitting: Modify parts as needed using drilling, tapping, grinding, reaming, and basic welding.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues to ensure peak equipment performance.
  • Documentation & Operations: Utilize ERP software to track labor and use MS Word/Excel for reporting and customer documentation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience assembling, installing, or servicing end-of-line packaging and automation equipment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read electromechanical schematics, troubleshoot pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and operate material handling equipment (forklifts/lulls).
  • Travel & Work Requirements: Authorized to work in the U.S., valid driver's license with a clean record, ability to pass a background check and drug test, and willingness to travel 20%–70%.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle light-to-moderate lifting, climb machinery, and work in varied plant environments.
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with VFD configuration/programming and Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000, Motion Control).
