Job description

Position: Detrash & Kitting Specialist/ Warehouse operator

Duration: 12+ months of contract on W2

Shift : 1st / 2nd / 3rd shift available  

Drug test required

 

Role Overview

The Detrash & Kitting Specialist is responsible for the initial handling and preparation of components within the manufacturing environment. This role ensures that materials are properly unpacked and organized for the production team to meet quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Kitting & Organization: Prepare and organize kits of components, such as motherboards and CPUs, ensuring all materials are ready for the assembly process.
  • Detrash & Handling: Efficiently remove components from bulk packaging while following strict safety and ESD-safe handling procedures.
  • Material Movement: Perform material movements through integrated systems to track inventory and log production data.
  • Quality Inspection: Conduct visual and functional inspections of parts to identify any defects or deviations before they reach the production line.
  • Workflow Support: Follow detailed work instructions to comply with production schedules and environment, safety, and health management systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or technical certification.
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience. Previous experience in high-volume fulfillment, pick-packing, or sortation (such as in an Amazon or logistics environment) is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. Basic computer skills are required for data entry and equipment interface.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and lift components safely.

Location/Status: Whitsett, United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Work Environment & Role Expectations

  • Manufacturing operations were brought to the U.S. in January 2026 – Lenovo is pioneering this division in Whitsett NC. At times it may feel like a startup.
  • The facility is currently under construction
    • Shuttle services are provided by Lenovo to and from the building
    • Restrooms are currently in outdoor facilities (upgraded beyond standard portable units)
    • Their break room has refrigerators for people to bring their lunch, they have vending machines and a food truck onsite
    • Due to ongoing construction and production ramp-up, there may be occasions when shifts end early for the day
  • Employees receive two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch
  • This role requires standing for the duration of the shift

There will be OT when the business need arises, while it is not required we encourage everyone to work it.  Potentially longer shift and/or Saturday hours available.
