Job description

National Gypsum Company is a fully integrated building products manufacturer and one of the leading gypsum manufacturers in the world.  Placed end-to-end, the company's annual gypsum board production would travel around the earth over 14 times.  National Gypsum also offer a full line of interior finishing products including joint compounds, tape, and textures.  Its growing cement board product line has a strong customer base in the United States and several other countries.

The company, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, has over 40 locations including laboratories, mines, and quarries, paper mills, gypsum board, interior finishing products, cement board plants and sales regions.

We have an immediate need for a Production Workers at our Wilmington, NC wallboard manufacturing facility.

This person must be able to handle various jobs within the production plant along with some very specific tasks as well.  You must possess good oral and written skills.  Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills.  Possess the ability to respond quickly to problems and work accurately using necessary measuring devices.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)

  • This is a Rotating Shift position but must be available to work other shifts as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping Safety First for you and your co-workers
  • Determine corrective action necessary to minimize downtime, increase productivity, and maintain continuity of operations.
  • Work with co-workers on changeovers and equipment change processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a clear focus on safety as the main priority of the job
  • Preferable minimum of six months experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Excellent Problem solving, troubleshooting, and demonstrated abilities.
  • Someone that catches on quickly and able to apply what you've learned
  • Someone that is accustomed to working long hours, holidays and weekends
  • Positive attitude toward change and the ability to adapt and relate to the work environment and the associates.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
