This role will be based onsite at our brand-new facility in Murfreesboro and reporting to our Chief Engineer - Operations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician will support senior technicians and engineers in ergonomic, safety, quality, and process improvements on the line through observation and hands on interaction with the operators, following appropriate engineering procedures, standards, and specifications. This role may also provide support in the fabrication and assembly of air conditioning units, air handlers, and related systems/sub-systems. The objective is resolving issues on sustaining products and improve the manufacturing process via hands on support, new tooling purchase/design, and recommended process changes. The Technician is expected to provide exemplary technical support to the customers of Oshkosh Corporation, internal and external. Estimated 75% of the time will be spent on the floor and the other 25% in the office.
YOUR IMPACT:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
  • Build relationships with the production team to create a synergy between their product/process knowledge and your technical skills to discover optimal methods of standard work and implement new tool ideas to improve safety, quality, and cycle time.
  • Perform analysis of new tooling in person or setting data acquisition methods to monitor improvements. Utilize the data via statistical analysis methods to confirm changes.
  • Creating design change requests to the engineering team to address build issues that improve product quality and manufacturability.
  • Test and record data using operational knowledge of air conditioning systems, perform basic failure analysis and follow detailed test procedures.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and fabricate complex/customized parts, mechanical structures and test stands/fixtures in partnership with engineers and senior level technicians.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhere to all safety procedures during all aspects of job performance which includes regular exposure to personal and physical hazards.
  • Operate heavy equipment/machinery or drive vehicles as required for the purposes of testing or material handling.
  • Determine appropriate test instruments for product testing.
  • Plan and schedule daily activities to complete assignments in their order of priority to make effective use of time and ensure projects are being completed within identified timeline.
  • Communicate effectively and work cross functionally to resolve technical problems including the ability to provide constructive feedback to all levels of the organization. Interpret and execute written/verbal directions and instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical Diploma with three (3) years of experience in engineering or equivalent*.
  • Ability to travel 10%.

WHAT MAKES YOU STANDOUT:

  • EPA Section 608 Certification - Stationary refrigeration and air conditioning
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical terms.

  • Certified forklift operator currently or in the past
  • Air conditioning system brazing experience and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations and procedure manuals.

  • Detail oriented.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with power tools and common machining equipment (Lathe, Mill, Drill press, Band Saw, etc...)
  • Drafting skills or 2D/3D AutoCad experience.

Pay Range:
$51,400.00 - $79,200.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
