Painter Helper / Assembly Technician

Job Summary

The Painter Helper / Assembly Assistant primarily supports the paint department by preparing parts and components for painting through sanding, masking, cleaning, and other surface preparation methods. This position also provides general assembly support, including basic mechanical assembly, crate building, and material handling as needed. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to producing quality work in a safe manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare parts and components for painting by sanding, masking, scraping, cleaning, taping, washing, and other approved preparation methods.
  • Load, unload, identify, and stage materials, tools, and equipment for production.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, work instructions, and parts lists.
  • Assist with assembly, crate building, and packaging using hand and power tools.
  • Verify parts, measurements, and specifications before beginning work.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely (training/certification as required).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Accurately record labor time and inventory changes as required.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to assist in other production areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Manufacturing, paint preparation, or assembly experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and use measuring tools.
  • Basic math and communication skills.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
