Industrial Engineer - General Assembly
Location: Riverside, CA
Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000/year
Position Summary:
As an Industrial Engineer supporting ENC's General Assembly operations, you will play a critical role in driving efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement on the factory floor. This position combines hands-on involvement in daily operations with strong analytical capabilities to optimize takt time, manpower planning, and production performance. You will partner closely with supervisors, team leads, and cross-functional teams to establish standard work, prepare for digital system implementations, and deliver measurable operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Develop and maintain takt-time targets and station-level manpower plans, ensuring balanced production lines as volume and product mix evolve.
โ€ข Conduct detailed time studies and motion analyses to validate standard work, identify process inefficiencies, and eliminate waste.
โ€ข Build and manage production performance dashboards in Excel and Power BI, tracking throughput, OEE proxies, bottlenecks, and WIP trends.
โ€ข Lead and facilitate Kaizen events, driving cross-functional problem-solving and sustaining improvements through 5S audits and visual management practices.
โ€ข Collaborate with operations teams to write and refine work instructions, ensuring alignment with digital work instruction and MES system readiness.
โ€ข Conduct daily gemba walks to identify production issues, prioritize improvement opportunities, and drive impactful CI projects.
โ€ข Support PFEP and material presentation strategies to align with cell designs, kitting, and supermarket systems.
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
โ€ข Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering within assembly manufacturing environments.
โ€ข Proven expertise in time studies, standard work development, and line balancing.
โ€ข Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) with the ability to create and maintain basic dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.
โ€ข Strong communication skills and a comfort level working primarily on the factory floor alongside operators and leadership.
โ€ข Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools, including A3 problem solving, DMAIC, value stream mapping, and 5S.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Experience with MES or digital work instruction systems through selection, piloting, or deployment phases.
โ€ข Background in bus/coach, truck, heavy equipment, or automotive final assembly environments.
โ€ข Certification or formal training in MOST, MTM, MODAPTS, or equivalent time measurement systems.
Tools & Systems
โ€ข Advanced Excel; Power BI or Tableau for performance visualization (preferred).
โ€ข Familiarity with AutoCAD for reviewing and updating simple layout drawings.
โ€ข Use of timer applications, video analysis, and standard industrial engineering toolkits for time and motion studies.
โ€ข Experience with SharePoint, Smartsheet, or Jira for action tracking and project management is a plus.
