Job description

Position Title: Assembly Technician

Location: Farmington Hills, MI

Payrate Range: $20.00/hr

Schedule: 1st Shift โ€“ Monday to Friday, 7:00 AMโ€“3:30 PM (with potential OT on weekends as business requires)

Job Summary: The Assembly Technician will produce quality parts and support the manufacturing process by ensuring equipment and processes to meet company standards with the automotive assembly operation in the Clean Room.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend Daily Shift Meetings.
  • Follow standard work: role of the Assembly Technician is to follow and apply the best standards to build part in order to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Consistently practice safe work behaviors, including wearing PPE, attending training, reporting unsafe acts or conditions, performing self-audits, etc.
  • Perform quality checks on parts, in accordance with standard work and/or special instructions form Quality Alerts, etc.
  • Participate in projects and/or work team focused on identifying and/or implementing improvements using Lean Manufacturing method or Problem-Solving techniques.
  • Follow company work rules, policies, and procedures
  • Install and maintain 5S standards
  • Carry out Process to correct Quality and Production Standards within cycle time
  • Escalate issues to Team Leader/ Shift Supervisor as necessary
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure it is always in good working condition.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolving equipment downtime issues
  • Participate in tool changes/changeover on the line when required.
  • Install, repair and maintain machinery and/or equipment
  • Support team to ensure machines function properly through troubleshooting and maintenance service.
  • Participate in system (EMS) procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in rotation of positions/duties if/when needed to support cross-training and/or backfill for absenteeism
  • Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the company.

Qualifications:

  • Academic degree (preferred): Associate's degree with Major in manufacturing technology, automation or related degree
  • Years of industry experience: 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with automated assembly equipment, particularly experience with HMI, PLC, and/or Robot for troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing processes โ€“ press/ force, torque, soldering, assembly and Basic machine shop skills
  • Ability to use hand gages including calipers, micrometers and ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Advanced problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Excessive standing, walking, bending, stopping, squatting, sitting, climbing, twisting, repetitive motion.
  • Lifting products, equipment, packages or miscellaneous items up to thirty (30) pounds unassisted and fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
  • Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, when handling box cutters or similar tools
