Position Summary
The 3rd Shift Powder Coating & Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all third-shift powder coating and assembly operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are achieved. This position provides leadership to hourly team members, promotes continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with company policies and manufacturing best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the 3rd shift powder coating and assembly departments.
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
  • Monitor workflow and staffing levels to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings and communicate production priorities, safety topics, and quality expectations.
  • Ensure all powder coating processes meet customer specifications for coating quality, color, thickness, and finish.
  • Monitor assembly operations to ensure products are built accurately according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform regular quality inspections and address defects through corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues and reduce production interruptions.
  • Work closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to resolve manufacturing concerns.
  • Monitor labor utilization, overtime, scrap, and production efficiencies.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Complete employee performance evaluations and assist with disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate production reports, shift documentation, attendance records, and other required documentation.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in powder coating, metal fabrication, welding, or assembly manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production scheduling.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
