Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician

Newton Scientific (NSI) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician to support the manufacturing of precision electro-mechanical products. This is a full-time, hourly position. The Assembly Technician will primarily perform mechanical and electronic assembly tasks, including soldering, precision assembly, and inspection. Training will be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates motivation, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on assembly work and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities:


Mechanical & Electrical Assembly

  • Assemble electro-mechanical products and subassemblies according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications
  • Perform precision mechanical assembly using hand tools and assembly fixtures
  • Assemble electronic components and wiring harnesses
  • Perform through-hole and surface mount soldering as needed
  • Apply adhesives, epoxies, RTV, and other assembly materials as directed
  • Inspect assemblies for workmanship, completeness, and compliance with specifications
  • Maintain accurate assembly documentation and production records
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production schedules, questions, or issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with other production activities as needed

Qualifications:

Required:

o High school diploma or GED

o 1-3 years of assembly, manufacturing, or related production experience

o Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity

o Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

o Experience working with small electronic and mechanical parts and precision assemblies

o Experience with through-hole and/or SMT soldering

o Experience using common hand tools and assembly equipment

o Experience working in a manufacturing environment

o Experience reading assembly drawings, work instructions, or manufacturing documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands for fine assembly and soldering tasks
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 20 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and good visual acuity for precision assembly work
