Primary Purpose:

Performs general maintenance and repair of building structures including irrigation, general building repairs, and preventative maintenance as needed. Closely collaborates and assists with warehouse and delivery needs within the district. This position requires a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a positive attitude who needs oversight in the daily scope of their duties and work activities. The successful candidate possesses verbal and written communication skills and utilizes those with superiors and those associated with the work. They are a problem solver. The individual is well organized. The person works well independently or as a productive member of a group. Candidate possesses a "safety first" mindset and models/nurtures safe working practices for themselves and staff. Must value/understand how to deliver quality and excellent customer service. Works well under pressure. They have good time management skills. They love to be challenged and work with people towards solutions.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:


  • Valid Texas driver's license required
  • GED or High School Diploma required


 Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
  • Effectively able to communicate via provided applications, email, as well as verbally
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Uses Ipad for work order system to communicate and process work orders to completion


 Experience:

  • One year experience in general building maintenance preferred


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair

1. Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
2. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.
3. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
4. Complete repairs as requested on work orders.
5. Collaborates closely with the Department's Leads regarding routine maintenance as well as preventive maintenance.
6. Demonstrates quality customer service daily.
7. Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
8. Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed.
9. Hang pictures, mirrors, whiteboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required.
10. Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens.
11. Install ceiling and flooring materials.
12. Is committed to working safely at all times.
13. Uses iPad and work order system to communicate and process work orders to completion.
14. Gathers materials and tools necessary to complete work orders.
15. May interact with department staff, head custodian, building administrator, vendors and contractors occasionally.
16. Uses department's work order system to manage productivity and efficiency of facility repairs and daily operations. Tracks work orders and insures that the work is completed in a timely manner.
17. Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
18. Attends all required meetings.
19. Works on special projects.
20. Other duties as assigned.

22. Operate light truck to transport furniture and equipment throughout district.

23. Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.
24. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
25. Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
26. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
